First Visit Evaluation

All dogs will receive an evaluation during their first visit for boarding and/or daycare.  We will assess your dog’s overall temperament and look for signs of aggression towards other dogs and/or people.  We will also take note of signs of stress or any other behavior that could become problematic over time in our unique environment.

Why must my dog have an evaluation?

An evaluation is important because Sycamore Dog estate is unlike your average boarding facility.  We allow your dogs the opportunity to play with each other, socialize, etc.  This is not a problem for most dogs as dogs are social animals, and quickly adapt to this social setting and the dynamics here.  We want this environment to be safe and welcoming to every dog.  Sophie has extensive experience observing dog behavior in a professional atmosphere, and here at Sycamore Dog Estate we are able to very quickly spot any problem behaviors or situations that may manifest before they become a problem.

For the safety of all of our guests and staff, we will not allow dogs that show ANY sign of aggression to other dogs, or people, at Sycamore Dog Estate.  Naturally, healthy arguments do occur when dogs are placed in social groups, but we will also be monitoring to ensure that these arguments do not escalate into physical confrontations.  Dogs will be supervised at ALL times.  Your dogs health and safety is number one here at Sycamore Dog Estate and we take these required evaluations very seriously.

We require that ALL dogs over the age of 6 months of age are either neutered or spayed.  Un-altered animals can cause conflict in groups of dogs.

Vaccinations

Dogs must be current on all vaccinations.

  • Rabies (1 year or 3 years.)
  • Bordetella (annually; also known as Kennel cough.)
  • DHLP (annually.)

*If your vet recommends a different vaccination protocol for your pet please follow your vet’s advice and have him or her fax us a note stating any changes.

We also require that all dogs be on a flea & tick preventative treatment.

If dogs are with us for an extended stay,  please provide appropriate heartworm and flea & tick preventative for administration by us (labelled and dated appropriately.)

*If it is discovered that your dog has fleas; preventative will be applied at the owner's expense*
